Martin Fry

• 9 March 1958
• English singer, songwriter, composer, musician, and record producer.
• His music career spans more than 40 years.
• He came to prominence in the early 1980s as co-founder and lead vocalist of the pop band ABC
• He is credited with creating Sophisti-Pop – smart suits, clever lyrics and elaborate synth-based melodies.
• He was editing a fanzine titled Modern Drugs in 1978, where he first met future ABC band members Mark White and Stephen Singleton while interviewing them for an article.
• They invited him to join their band to play additional keyboards
• He is the only member who has been with ABC throughout its entire history and is currently its only official member.
• He was part of the New Romantic movement of the time, which included bands such as Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and The Human League.
• Their debut album, Lexicon of Love had four chart singles and was certified Platinum
• The album entered the UK Albums Chart at number 1 and remained on the charts for 50 weeks.
• He worked on several songs for the 2007 film Music and Lyrics starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. He also served as Grant’s vocal coach for the movie
• His hits include: “Tears Are Not Enough”, “Poison Arrow”, “The Look of Love”, “All of My Heart”, “That Was Then but This Is Now” and “When Smokey Sings”
