American singer and actor
His love of music started at the age of five when he would sing Unchained Melody and You’ll Never Walk Alone at school.
At university, it wasn’t music that he chose. He majored in architecture and went on to get a BA in art history and an MA in mathematics.
He was one-half of one of the world’s most successful pop duos.
He pursued an acting career in the early 1970s and has starred in: Catch-22, Carnal Knowledge, Bad Timing and Good to Go
He is best known for his partnership with Paul Simon
In 1964 he and Paul Simon released their first album – when it wasn;t a success they split up and he moved to London to try a solo career.
They worked together again but split following the release of their most successful album, Bridge over Troubled Water, in 1970.
HIs song Bright Eyes appeared in the movie Watership Down.
They got back together again in 1982 for The Concert In Central Park
His version of Always Look on the Bright Side of Life was used in the end credits of the 1997 film As Good as It Gets.
He has earned eight Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award.
As a solo artist he has released ten studio albums, one live album, four compilation albums and twenty-nine singles
His hits include: “The Sound of Silence”, “Mrs. Robinson”, “Kodachrome”, “Scarborough Fair”, The Boxer and “Bridge over Troubled Water”
