In Europe, her biggest selling record is the anthemic You Got the Love from 1986, released in collaboration with the Source.
She received an invitation to perform at the White House for President Jimmy Carter in the late 1970s
She is best known for her 1976 disco chart-topper Young Hearts Run Free
She has been married six times and has five children
She has recorded twelve gospel albums, two of which received Grammy Award nominations.
In 2018, she announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She has recorded 28 studio albums and over 30 singles.
