  • He is an American singer, keyboardist and songwriter known for his distinctive, soulful voice
  • He became a member of Steely Dan’s touring band in 1973, singing lead and backing vocals
  • He was recruited by the Doobie Brothers in April 1975, initially as a temporary replacement after their lead vocalist became ill on tour.
  • He proved so successful that they decided to retain him as a full-time member.
  • He has been a backing singer for Christopher Cross, and Kenny Loggins.
  • In 1982, he released his first solo studio album, If That’s What It Takes,
  • He co-wrote and released Yah Mo B There with James Ingram,
  • He had a number one duet with Patti LaBelle called On My Own
  • He has been married to singer Amy Holland since 1983. They have two children.
  • He has worked with a number of other artists, including James Ingram, David Cassidy, Van Halen, Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Toto and Joni Mitchell,
  • His song Sweet Freedom featured in the latest Barbie movie
  • As a solo artist he has released 9 Studio Albums and 13 Singles
  • His hits include: “What a Fool Believes”, “Minute by Minute”, “Sweet Freedom” and “I Keep Forgettin’”
